This is another one of those questions that I get asked all the time. Especially when I send someone new a program. It is a valid question but the right time can vary. In my opinion, the best time to workout is the best time that works for you and feels best for you.
Let’s say you have to get up extremely early for work but get out in the afternoon. I’d say evening workouts are best for you.
If you are a person that will likely skip a workout here and there, just do it in the morning to get it over with. This way you have the rest of the day to relax.
I personally prefer to workout early afternoon. I have a flexile schedule though so I can make this happen. In the morning I feel like I am not as strong and at night I feel a little tired. At night I don’t want to take any caffeine that would screw up my sleep. So around 1PM is normally went I hit the gym. It is a nice way for me to break up the day as well.
I do work related things all morning. Then take a break to eat lunch, lift and sauna. Then at around 2 or 3 I do some more work until around 6-7pm where I start making dinner.
This works well for me but does not work for the majority of people.
For most people I like to tell them to try and do morning workouts. You start your day off right and you get your workout out of the way. You have no excuse not to workout. Later in the day random things might come up which cause you to miss your workout.
