You might be thinking to yourself, “Did I just read that right? Skip the gym?!”

That was no typo. I am a big believer in outdoor workouts. There is something about them that just feels good. I believe your body desires the outdoors being cooped up inside all day. Besides that, vitamin D is one of the best vitamins out there. Why not get it the natural way via the sun?

Now am I saying to only do outdoor workouts? Not necessarily. I think it is good to mix it up. But I would recommend trying to do an outdoor workout at least 2-3 times per week. These workouts will consist of calisthenics and cardio. Think pull ups, bodyweight squats, lunges, push ups, hill sprints and everything in between. In upcoming articles I will give some more specific workouts you can do.

Even going for a hike up a steep incline is a fantastic workout and you won’t even feel like you are working out. You will be too busy enjoying the outdoors, taking in all the sights and sounds. Not to sounds like a hippy but you will get more in tune with nature.

To me this sounds a lot better than training inside a crowded indoor gym.
